Depois de cinco dias internado, Maurício Matias de Souza, de 26 anos, morreu por volta das 21h45 de terça-feira (29), no Hospital e Pronto-Socorro Platão Araújo, na Zona Leste de Manaus. O homem foi atingido com vários golpes de martelo.
O crime aconteceu na última sexta-feira (24), na rua Santa Maria da Paz, comunidade Alfredo Nascimento, no bairro Cidade de Deus.
Segundo a equipe da Delegacia Especializada em Homicídios e Sequestros (DEHS), Maurício estava consumindo bebidas alcoólicas com um colega, identificado como José Nonato Uchoa Nogueira, quando os dois tiveram uma discussão e José atacou a vítima com marteladas.
Após ser atingido, Maurício foi socorrido e conduzido para o Platão Araújo, mas não resistiu aos ferimentos e morreu. O autor fugiu e, até o momento, não foi localizado pela polícia.
O Instituto Médico Legal (IML) foi acionado para remover o corpo e o caso será investigado pela Delegacia de Homicídios como lesão corporal seguida de morte.
