Condenações por doping no passado tornaram o lutador um alvo das entidades americanas de controle antidopagem
O passado problemático de Jon Jones fez com que o campeão dos meio-pesados do UFC virasse alvo do sistema antidoping dos Estados Unidos. Segundo Jeff Novitzky, vice-presidente de saúde e performance de atletas do UFC, o lutador foi testado em um total de 42 vezes pela Comissão Atlética do Estado de Nevada (NSAC), pela Comissão Atlética do Estado da Califórnia (CSAC) e pela Agência Antidoping Americana (USADA).
Os números impressionaram o dirigente, que se pronunciou em suas redes sociais.
– Em 2019, Jon Jones foi alvo de 42 testes surpresas por três entidades diferentes (USADA, CSAC e NSAC). Nos meus 20 anos de experiência no mundo antidoping, este é o mais alto volume de testes que eu já vi em um atleta, em qualquer esporte.
O campeão da divisão dos meio-pesados defende seu cinturão neste sábado, na luta principal do UFC 247, em Houston (EUA), contra Dominick Reyes.
